Saturday saw the arrival of 15 of our Silver match winners from throughout the year who will be fishing three matches this week with one lucky angler walking away with £1000.
It’s not been a great start to this “mini-festival” with a weekend of torrential rain and gale force winds (sorry to break the news to you lads but the forecast is the same for the week!!) But there are matches to fish so methods are being tested over the weekend on the lakes that will be fished (and brollys being mended) ready for day one on Monday. Day One
It was a bright start to the morning (weather wise) but for some it was a little daunting having to face the wrath of what is known as “Trelawney”, Yes day ones match was on Trelawney lake and the 15 anglers had been split down into 4 smaller sections all aiming for a maximum 4 points on day one and a bonus of £40 for the section win that has been provided by paying super pools.
Pegs from 3 round to 31 are included in the match and there were many anglers with their fingers crossed as they headed for the draw bag. Those fishing that were dreading this lake look at it this way, after day one its over so there is no blaming the lake – it’s up to you!!
The rain managed to hold off during the setting up time but not long after the start the heavens opened!!. Winning A section on peg 7 was Brian Castlo, Brian battled against the wind and rain and caught on the long pole at 14.5 meters with meat on the hook, he weighed in a total of 40lb 4oz. Stefan Trevellyan took the B section win with 33lb 5oz, Stefan on peg 14 caught down the edge on corn feeding pellet and hemp. Mick Thompson on peg 24 picked up the C section win and the biggest weight of the day with 76lb 13oz, Mick caught on the bottom with pellet and corn. The final daily winner was Keith Nicholson fishing D section winning with 44lb 10oz from peg 27, Keith caught on meat on the deck at 8 meters.
