Dynamite Baits 2010
  Fishing Information call 01726 862519

After a first successful festival we go straight into our second festival of the season sponsored by Dynamite Baits, this festival is the first that allows pellet so we are expecting the weights to go up as that is what the local anglers have been catching on over the winter.

The 2010 festival is a sell out and the anglers are chomping at the bit to get started. Last week we had a mixed week of weather and the forecast this week is not great, think we are in for a bit of rain but fingers crossed it doesn't have too much of an impact on the fishing.

Join us each day for an update on the festival and find out who our 2010 Dynamite champions will be.

Day One

The anglers fishing this week are a mix of those that were here last week, festival regulars and some 'newbies' so the morning draw always lasts a bit longer as we go over the rules and explain how the festival works. Once everything is clear the anglers are into the bag for that first lucky dip of the week. It was a wet morning but brightened up throughout the day. Read on for the action from day one.

A Section Pollawyn
Pollawyn fished well last week despite a couple of tough days and the weights today were reasonable from across the sections, the addition of pellet meant we saw a few more carp being caught today with a lot of people choosing to fish the pellet waggler. Steve Conway won the lake today with 94lb 3oz; Steve was on peg 29 and caught on the waggler & method with pellet. Second on peg 17 was Tim Dabrowa, Tim caught 12 carp on the pellet waggler for a weight of 92lb 11oz. Russ Grimes weighed in with 75lb 5oz to take third, Russ was on peg 45 and caught on the long pole with meat. Nick Speed on peg 21 had the next best weight on the lake with 60lb 6oz, Nick caught on the drop with meat on the pole.

Section Winners
Steve Conway 9 points peg 29 94lb 3oz
Tim Dabrowa 9 points peg 17 92lb 11oz
Russ Grimes 9 points peg 45 75lb 5oz
Brian Bennett 9 points peg 6 56lb 8oz

B Section Twin Oaks & Trelawney
These lakes were both in last week and this week the anglers were due to fish Twin Oaks, Acorn & Canal but we weren't sure Canal could produce as fair weights as Trelawney did so we decided to keep it in. It was proof on Twin Oaks that pellet really does make a difference with 5 out of the 9 anglers in one section weighing in over 80lbs. Joe Carass was today's lake winner on Twin Oaks peg 2, Joe caught on the pellet feeder for a weight of 139lb 5oz. Second with 125lb 4oz was Matt Drayton, Matt was on Twin Oaks peg 14 and caught on the method with meat on the hook and on the pole at 6 meters with meat. Craig Elkin on Twin Oaks peg 16 was third, Craig caught on the pole and only had 6 fish after 3 hours but finished with a weight of 101lb 11oz. Dean Smith had the next best weight on Twin Oaks 21, Dean caught on the method feeder with pellet and on the pole with pellet to weigh in with 81lb 15oz.

Jarrad Smith 9 points peg 20 47lb 7oz
John Cockayne 9 points peg 14 44lb 10oz

C Section Trewaters
It is the first time really since last October that Trewaters has been fished with any numbers on so other than a few local matches it has not been fished much so the anglers face going into the day a bit blind. The weights today were low but with a bit of bait gone in now hopefully it will pick up for the rest of the week. Steve Ringer was the lake winner with 37lb 3oz; Steve was on peg 34 and caught on the feeder with dead maggot. Second on peg 21 was Callum Dicks, Callum caught short on the pole with pellets for a weight of 24lb 8oz. D Section Porth
Towards the end of last week it was a real struggle on Porth but the anglers seemed to have had a better day today and the weights were a lot closer across all the sections. Andy May was the lake winner today with 15lb 1oz, Andy was on peg 71 and caught on the slider with maggots and fed casters. Second on peg 84 was Alan Scotthorne, Alan caught roach with squatt over groundbait for a weight of 11lb 9oz. It was a good start down on Bolingey with the tonne weights still being produced and generally fishing well. Jamie Parkhouse was the lake winner today with 129lb 5oz this included a fish tipping the scales at 19lbs, Jamie was on peg 17 and caught on the method with meat on the hook. Second was Andy Bennett, Andy caught on the method with pellet from peg 11 for a weight of 126lb 5oz. Day Two

The festival got off to a good start and we could only hope for a repeat performance from today’s fishing, unfortunately the weather has taken a bit of a bad turn and the rain is back with a vengeance!

A Section Twin Oaks/Trelawney
Great weights of the low numbers on Twin Oaks today and although the high numbers did not fish as well than the previous day the results were close, the weights on Trelawney are not quite competing with Twin Oaks but there was an overall improvement. The last two days of the festival could have a dramatic effect on the results and it could go one way or another for those in the top spots. Join us tomorrow for the latest update and fine out who the front runners are as we go into the final days

Day Four

Well we have gone from a wet day to an even wetter one! There has been no let up on the rain and it has also got a bit colder today. It could be make or break for some today, those that go into the final day on high points can afford a lapse but there are a few who need to make up some points if they stand a chance of getting into the top ten. Read on for the action from the penultimate day of the festival.

A Section Porth
A mixed day on Porth but not the worst results we have seen over the festival, the endless rain and wind is having an effect on the anglers and only the brave are fishing the long pole which is having such good results whilst others are sticking to the faithful waggler and hoping for the best. The stage is set for another nail biting fishing. Join us tomorrow for the final results.

Day Five - Grand Final!

So we have reached the final day of the festival and despite being a very wet week we have seen some great results, read on for the final day of the festival and to find out who has been crowned Dynamite Baits Champion 2010.

There was a slight respite in the rain today but the damage had already been done as the cold water going into the lakes for the past 2 days has knocked things on the head and the catches were not as good across the board.

At the draw this morning all of the anglers were presented with goodie bags brimming with products supplied by our sponsors Dynamite Baits, the bag contained 1 x tin of the new Dynamite Bait luncheon meat, 1 bag of Silver X carp green groundbait, 1 bag swimstim original groundbait, 1 bag of swimstim green groundbait, 1 bag swimstim black groundbait, 1 bag of swimstim green 3 mil pellets and 1 bag of original swimstim 3 mil pellets.

After Clint read through the formalities for the final day the draw started and after a dip into the bag some were practically racing to their pegs whilst others who had not drawn as well looked for information from the other competitors to get the most out of their peg.

A Section Bolingey
The weights were down on Bolingey today and even though there were some good overall results there were certain pegs within the sections that really struggled.
