Milo Festival 2010
  Fishing Information call 01726 862519

Welcome to the 2010 White Acres Milo Festival, in a vast contrast to our previous festivals we have been blessed with good weather! It is a sell out this week with 180 anglers fishing Pollawyn, Twin Oaks/Trelawney, Trewaters, Porth & Bolingey over the five days.

In recent matches the lakes have been fishing well and with the better weather we are having there should be some good results this week. With the sections drawn prior to their arrivals the anglers have the chance to practise over the weekend, some have taken up the chance to do this whilst others have had a relaxing weekend catching up with old friends. The festival is a nice mixture this year of regular faces and newcomers so we shall see what the week holds.

Join us for the daily updates as the story unfolds and we find out who will be the White Acres Milo champion 2010.

Day One

It was a very chilly start to the day but with the forecast of a mild and clear day all the anglers were in high spirits as they queued up for the morning draw. The anglers all gathered in the club for Clint to explain how the festival would run and then it was time for the off, read on to find out who has got off to a great start.

A Section Pollawyn
In was a fairly tough day on Pollawyn with some anglers getting off to a flying start and then coming to an abrupt holt then not catching again until the death of the match. It was a fairly tough start to the week down on the reservoir with some of the anlgers drawing smack bang in the middle of the 'pike zone' It will be fingers crossed for the rest of the week that as more bait goes in it does not become more of a problem and that we see some better weights instead. The lake winner today nearly tripled anyone else's weight and that was Simon Fry on peg 40 with 23lb 10oz, Simon caught a total of 167 fish - all roach, on the long pole shallow with caster.

Day Two

Once again the second day of the festival got off to a chilly start with the temperature dropping over night and even a light frost on the ground, but the forecast is for another bright & sunny day.

As the previous days weigh sheets get put up the anglers are keen to find out what weights came from where in the hope of drawing a 'flyer' today.

Read on for the match action and to see if we have anyone on maximum points.

A Section Twin Oaks/Trelawney
It was another great day over on these lakes with three out of the four sections throwing up good weights, the only side not fishing as well is the low numbers of Trelawney but even though there are not any big weights coming out the weights are fair across the section making it tight on section points.

Day Three

So we have reached the mid-way point and still the weights and points keep coming. Today has been bitterly cold with a harsh wind really hampering presentation for the anglers on some of the lakes. There is a definite temperature drop and we could only hope this didn't knock things on the head to much. Read on for today's match action and to find out if anyone has managed the 3 section wins.

A Section Trewaters

It was a tough day on Pollawyn and many had the cold wind blowing into their faces all day, the fish are there but seem to be cruising around and not favouring any specific area. The fish being caught are quality carp but unfortunately not very many of them, the anglers that seem to be doing well are also targeting the silvers to boost their weights. Robert Kite on peg 26 was the lake winner today with 79lb 15oz, Robert caught on the pellet waggler at 3 ft deep.

Day Four

Another day of matches and the results have all changed; a good day for some and they have crept up the rankings but for others they are hoping today was their 'dropper'. The wind had dropped a lot and it was much warmer, some of the lakes produced better weights where as others are showing the strain of being match fished each day but the overall weights of the anglers go to show just how well some lakes have been fishing.

A Section Porth

Crikey what a close & high scoring festival with some amazing weights, we haven't seen three anglers on maximum points for a while now and the closeness in weight between 2nd & 3rd is nearly unbelievable. The title of this years White Acres Milo festival 2010 with a perfect score of 36 points is Lewis Murawski (Fox Match/Dynamite Baits) Lewis has only been fishing the festivals here at White Acres since October 2009 so a festival win is a great achievement.

I would like to extend to massive thank you to Milo and Simon Willsmore for once again sponsoring the festival and providing great prizes for the top ten anglers.

I hope you will all agree it has been a great week and the weather has certainly helped, thank you once again to Milo and all the anglers that fished last week, congratulations to all the anglers especially our top three of Lewis Murawski, Callum Dicks & Harry Billing.

The latest list of qualifies from this festival for the Preston Innovations festival will be up shortly so watch this space!

Thanks once again to the anglers that fished last week and those of you that have been following the results on the internet - Until the next festival...

Cheers, Kirsty
