White Acres Walls Solero Ladies Festival 2010
  Fishing Information call 01726 862519

It is once again time for our ladies only fishing festival, the 4 day event is being fished on Python & Twin Oaks and this year there are 21 ladies taking part.

For the previous years the ladies have taken a battering as the 'summer' festival has not turned out to be very summery and we have had some bad July weather but this year the forecast looks a lot better so fingers crossed it will once again be a great week.

There is a really varied mix of ladies fishing from members of the England ladies team, the occasional match angler and some on their first bash at the festival.

Day One

We are running the same format as last year and have increased it to 4 matches over 4 sections with the ladies fishing all the sections in rotation. There will be two random draws so the ladies won't be fishing against the same people all week.

A Section Python Wides
This section normally fishes better but it was a struggle for some as the fish were being elusive but once the ladies sussed out the methods and baits they were taking the keepnets soon started to fill. The lake winner with 31lb 2oz was Helen Dagnall; Helen was on peg 16 and caught a few on the feeder but mainly on the long pole on the deck and shallow with banded pellet. Wendy Locker was second on peg 10, Wendy caught on the pole short and long with pellet for a weight of 30lb 12oz. Third with 26lb 12oz was Lisa Ford on peg 9, Lisa caught on the method to the far bank with pellet.

Section Winners
Lisa Ford peg 9 6 points 26lb 12oz
Helen Dagnall peg 16 6 points 31lb 2oz

B Section Python Narrows
The narrows fished well today and normally where you would struggle a bit more the weights today have been consistent and good across the sections. Sam Perkins was the lake winner with 39lb 5oz; Sam was on peg 24 and caught on the pole at 5 meters with paste. Second on peg 18 was Heather Dewey, Heather caught on the method and pellet waggler and weighed in with 33lb 14oz. Melanie Bates was third with a weight of 30lb 2oz, Melanie caught on the pole at 13 meters to the island with meat and maggot from peg 32.

Section Winners
Sam Perkins peg 24 6 points 39lb 5oz
Melanie Bates peg 32 6 points 30lb 2oz

Overall Top Ten

Sam Perkins is in the top spot after day one so she will be hoping for another good draw to concrete her place; it will be different fishing for the next couple of days on Twin Oaks as the ladies hope for good hauls to boost their match weights if the points are tied.

Stay tuned for more results coming shortly.

The ladies are back to Python tomorrow and although big weights are not on the cards it will be very close on points so join us tomorrow for the final results and to see who is the White Acres Solero festival champion 2010.

Day Four

We have reached the final day of the annual White Acres Solero ladies festival, it has been a cracking week and the ladies have been lucky with the weather - for a change!

The ladies are back on to Python today so let's see who does the business today, read on for the final match report and to see who the 2010 champion lady is.

B Section Python Wides
Once again the weights were very close in the wides with all the anglers producing reasonable nets of fish. Helen Dagnall makes it a clean sweep on maximum points for the second year running to once again take the victory. The three England internationals take the top three spots with just one point separating Helen from Wendy & Sam and Sam piped Wendy into second place with a superior weight.

Cash prizes go to the top five and additional sponsorship from Walls Solero means we were able to provide prizes for the top 8 anglers.

Wendy, Helen & Sam have also very generously sponsored a mystery weight prize each day for the ladies fishing and provided some great giveaways.

The festival attracted 20 ladies this year and next year we hope to attract even more so if you are a keen female anglers please get in contact with Kirsty to put your name down for this festival which will take part week commencing 2nd July 2011.

The fisheries team would like to express our thanks to Solero for once again sponsoring the event as well as all the ladies for making it such a friendly and enjoyable festival and congratulations to all of the ladies who fished especially our top three Helen Dagnall (Tri Cast Cheshire Angling), Sam Perkins (Dynamite Maver) and Wendy Locker (Tackle Locker Drennan)

See you all next year!

Cheers, Kirsty
