Winners Week Festival 2011
Fishing Information call 01726 862519
As an extra reward for all of our match winners throughout the year and some festival lake winners we hold a three day mini festival with £1000 up for grabs for the winner, £600 for second & £400 for third.
52 anglers are fishing the three day event this year and they will be fishing in rotation on Pollawyn, Twin Oaks & Jennys. The anglers are made up of a mixture of people that have already been here for one or two weeks plus those that have come back for this week only.
This week is a bit more chilled out compared to our other main festivals and although the anglers mean business there is also a lot more banter on the banks and late nights in the bar.
Read through to see how the festival has gone this week.
Day One
As it is a free holiday sometimes people do not let us know they are not coming so rather than drawing sections prior to arrival then the numbers being messed up we always have a random draw on the first day of the festival which will not only determine the peg they will be fishing that day but also their rotation over the three days.
The temperature has gradually been dropping again after a glorious weekend and there are a few heavy showers forecast and after two weeks of being fished in the festival we shall just have to see how the anglers get on today.
A Section Pollawyn
It was a mixed day on Pollawyn with one section fishing a lot better than the other but they were both tight when it came to points. Ian Ford on peg 22 took the match win with 48lb 15oz, Ian caught on the pole at 16 meters with worm and casters and down the edge on meat. It was a joint weight for second with both Kieron Rich & Steve Parker weighing in with 40lb 1oz. Kieron was on peg 20 and caught on the long pole with meat and pellet and Steve caught on the long pole with worm and casters from peg 21.
Section Winners
Ian Ford peg 22 9 points 48lb 15oz
Tony Hewson peg 19 9 points 29lb 14oz
B Section Twin Oaks
It was a slow day on Twin oaks and as like last week the early pegs in the first section fished hard, the back lake also fished hard apart from one weight but it was tight for points with most of the anglers having round the 20lbs mark. Steve Parry on peg 10 was the match winner with 113lb 3oz, Steve caught on the bomb with meat. Jake Dye weighed in with 96lb 8oz to take second, Jake caught on the bomb and pellet from peg 14. Third was Gary Wills, Gary was on peg 12 and caught on the pellet waggler and long and short on the pole with pellet for a weight of 72lb 4oz.
Section Winners
Steve Parry peg 10 9 points 113lb 3oz
Chris Kitchin peg 35 9 points 68lb 6oz
C Section Jennys
We haven't used Jennys for a couple of years in this mini event but as the water level is still slightly down on Trelawney and it is fishing hard we have but this lake in. On Saturdays final the fish were not in the expected place so we shall see what this week brings for the anglers. Winning today with 65lb 4oz was Philip Sellers, Philip was on peg 8 and caught on the method with maggot. Dave Geldart on peg 20 was second with 55lb 11oz, Dave caught on the method with pellet. Third was Tom Rycroft, Tom was on peg 4 and caught on the method with pellet for a weight of 48lb 11oz.

Day Two
It seems to be getting colder by the day and we are having very heavy rain overnight and in the early hours. All the anglers will be looking for top wins once again today and will we see anyone on maximum points?

It was a better day all round on Twin Oaks and even though the winning weights were not as big and the early pegs are still struggling there was still a general improvement across the board. No anglers on maximum points but the points are once again very close as is the weight meaning it is all still to play for on the final day.
Wednesday is a rest day for some of the anglers whilst others choose to fish the residents match that we hold, so will those fishing the match gain in strength or will those that have taken a break benefit more? Join us for the final day of the festival.
Day Three
The final day, with the lakes already showing a bit of form this week those anglers that are in with a shout at the title know where they fancy drawing today so we shall have to see who the bag is kind to today. With no angler on maximum points it does open things up so read on to find out how things go on the final day and who is our Winners Week Champion 2011.
A Section Jennys
Good weights once again up on Jennys today with the results coming from across the whole section and also reasonable back up weights. Apart from the winner it was a bit of a struggle on Pollawyn today, some of the weights were very close when it came to points and it seems as if the fish are still moving about the lake as the weights in each area seem to change on a daily basis. Chris Kitchin took the lake win today, Chris was on peg 13 and caught on the pole at 16 meters with meat for a weight of 70lb 13oz. With a 2 point advantage and a possible 26 out of 27 points Ian Ford takes the champions title for 2011.

Once again it came down to the final day and with points won and lost across the board it has given us a shake in the up ten but with another section win Ian firmly has cemented his place in the top spot.
That was the 2011 winners week, next year we will see a different line up of names battling it out for the overall title and possibly some familiar names back again if they have another match win but until then thank you and congratulations to all of the anglers that have fished this week and for making it such a friendly and sociable occasion.
Cheers, Kirsty
