This week we are running the Coors Light Veterans festival, a festival that is open to anglers over 55 years of age and over.
The event is run over 4 days and they are fishing Pollawyn, Jennys & python split, Trelawney and Twin oaks in rotation, the weights are expected to drop a bit as we are in winter mode, but the sport will be fair, we have a full turnout with 96 anglers fishing, the guys have a decent week ahead with temperatures over 15 degrees!
First place on Pollawyn was Neil Rogerson with 38lb from peg 19 Neil fished the chopped worm and caster short and in the margins. Ian Stevenson took second place 30lb 10oz from peg 43, Ian also caught on the pole with worm & and Robert Ellis took third place from peg 18 with a weight of 24lb 08oz, Robert caught all his fish on the bomb and pellet to the island.
Andy Dare won Jenny’s with 43lb 7oz, Andy spent all day fishing casters on the short pole taking an all silver fish weight from peg 5. Second was also from Jennys was Mel Pears with a weight of 31lb 04oz, Mel swapped between the long pole and feeder catching a couple of bonus carp from peg 17. Geoff long took third from Python catching all his fish on the pellet waggler from peg 15.
Today’s winner on Trelawney was Tom Michaels on peg 16 with 33lb 6oz, Tom swapped from the long pole with worm and meat down the margins. Tony troth finished in second place weighing 32lb 8oz, Tony also fished the margins with worm from peg 24. Trevor Pearce had 31lb off peg 19 fishing the long pole with pellet.
Today’s winner on Twin Oaks was Colin Dance on peg 13 with 87lb 10oz, Colin caught 70lb of carp on meat at 6 meters and the rest was decent skimmers. Steve Warner finished in second place weighing 70lb 2oz, Steve fished the margins & 6 meters with pellet catching mainly F1’s from peg 36. Danny Sixsmith managed 3rd place on the day from peg 33, Danny fished the pole with pellet.

The festival has started well and the weights are low and fair, not many carp coming out but plenty of silver fish showing for those who want to take the gamble!
First place on Pollawyn was Tony Oatley with 69lb 10oz from peg 20 Tony fished the bomb and pellet. Mick Warner took second place 34lb from peg 28, Mick also caught on the bomb and pellet & and Tony Holdsworth took third place from peg 18 with a weight of 32lb 03oz, Tony caught all his fish on the bomb and pellet to the island.
Brian Werrett won Jenny’s with 34lb 12oz, Brian spent all day the long pole with meat from peg 16. Second from Python was Dave Cleaver with a weight of 28lb 09oz, Dave fished the 6 meter pole and small bits of paste catching mainly shimmers from peg 9. Neil Rogerson took third from Python catching all his fish on the short pole with worm and caster from peg 16.
Today’s winner on Trelawney was Bob Dac on peg 26 with 40lb 2oz, Bob swapped from the long pole shallow and 5 meters with meat. Ken Russell finished in second place weighing 40lb, Ken fished the long pole with pellets and casters in the margins from peg 16. Jimmy Garside had 36lb from peg 24 fishing the 5 meter pole with expander pellets.
Today’s winner on Twin Oaks was Mick Gibbs on peg 16 with 77lb, Mick caught all his fish on the bomb and pellet to the far bank. Dave Pickering finished in second place weighing 62lb 10oz, Dave fished the pole with maggots catching mainly F1’s from peg 1. Mick Wilkinson managed 3rd place on the day from peg 18, Mick swappet between the long and short pole with 6mm pellets.

Mick Wilkinson took second place 46lb 4oz from peg 18, Mick also caught on the bomb and pellet & and Harry Billing took third place from peg 17 with a weight of 45lb 06oz, Harry caught all his fish on the long and short pole.
Danny Sixsmith won Jenny’s with 43lb 5oz, Danny spent all day fishing the top 2 kit plus 2 with casters from peg 4. Second from Jennys was Andy Partridge with a weight of 32lb 06oz, Andy fished the 4 meter pole with casters catching silver fish from peg 20. Steve Warner took third from Jennys catching mainly silver fish with a late bonus carp from peg 19.
Today’s winner on Trelawney was Gary Bell on peg 20 with 44lb 5oz, Gary swapped from the feeder and long pole shallow. Mark Gillam finished in second place weighing 40lb 10oz, Mark fished the long pole down the margins with casters from peg 11. Bob Stevens had 40lb 07oz from peg 24 fishing the bomb and pellet.
Today’s winner on Twin Oaks was Andy Dare on peg 23 with 101lb 12oz, Andy caught swapped between the method feeder with dead maggot and the 5 meter pole with paste. Dave Richardson finished in second place weighing 68lb 14oz, Dave fished the pole with meat at 8 meters from peg 18. Alan Tuck managed 3rd place on the day from peg 11, Alan fished the method feeder with 6mm pellets.

The last day was fished in wet and windy conditions but yet again the weights were steady and fair!
First place on Pollawyn was Andy Dare with 89lb 14oz from peg 18 Andy fished the pellet feeder to the island with 6mm pellet. Jimmy Smith took second place 65lb 3oz from peg 43 down the leg, Jimmy fished dead red maggots down the margins & and John Pantry took third place from peg 20 with a weight of 34lb 02oz, John swapped between the feeder and waggler catching most of his fish on the 6mm pellet.
Kevin Wingfield won the day from Python lake with 39lb 6oz from un-fancied peg 21, Kevin spent all day fishing the pellet to the island. Second from Python was Neil Blacker with a weight of 32lb 03oz from the wide’s, Neil fished the 8 meter pole with worms & casters mainly catching F1’s peg 13. Mick Wilkinson took third from Python fishing dead maggots over worm and caster peg 30.
Today’s winner on Trelawney was Tony Oatley on peg 7 with 59lb 12oz, Tony caught on the pellet feeder with micro’s and a popped up pellet. Andy Partridge finished in second place weighing 57lb 8oz, Andy fished the top 2 kit with casters from peg 22. Neil Edwards had 32lb from peg 29 fishing the meat at 5 meters.
Today’s winner on Twin Oaks was David Gibbs on peg 14 with 95lb 14oz, David caught on the pellet feeder with dead maggot. Mal Proctor finished in second place weighing 84lb 10oz, Mal fished the bomb and bread and swapped to casters in the margins from peg 23. Dave Cleaver managed 3rd place on the day from peg 18, Dave fished the pellet feeder with dead red maggots.
