  Gold Winners Week Festival 2005
Monday 17th October saw the start of our three-day Gold winners week festival that is held on the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with one lucky winner walking away with £1000.

This festival is open to those Gold anglers that have won a weekly Monday match, Thursday rover or have won the lake on a Wednesday of a festival. 48 anglers took up their pace on this years festival which is being fished in three sections rotating on Trelawney, Twin Oaks and Acorn/Nelsons.


Day One
Day one saw A section heading off to Nelsons/Acorn. Winning the Lake on Nelson and picking up the maximum 9 point section win was John Hetherington on peg 12 weighing in with 49lb 13oz. Second went to Lee Nutland with 49lb 7oz from peg 1. Dominic Lanni on peg 16 Acorn won the lake and his vital 9 points with 44lb 4oz. Andy Dare picked up second with 38lb from peg 1.

B section started the week on Trelawney where the lake had been split into two sections, low numbers (pegs 2 – 18) and high numbers (pegs 21 – 32). Winning the low numbers with an impressive 89lb 4oz was Charlie Shaw on peg 18, Charlie caught on corn at 4 meters out and 4 meters down the edge he also picks up 9 points for the section win. Steve Parry takes second with 63lb 12oz next door on peg 16, Steve fished pellet shallow for this result. Third in this section went to Craig Herring who caught on worm close in giving him a weight of 57lb 7oz. On the high number Darren Mulheir took the victory and 9 points with a most impressive 93lb 3oz, Darren on peg 26 caught on meat on the deck and in his impressive carp haul he had a number of ghost carp that were introduced to the lake earlier in the year. Jim Meakin on peg 21 was second, Jim also caught with meat on the deck weighing in with 55lb 2oz. Tony Wynnick was third with 45lb 14oz also caught on meat on the deck.

Twin Oaks was the destination for C-section on day one, as with Trelawney these lakes have been split into two sections with one being high numbers and the other low numbers. Taking the win from peg 18 on the low numbers was Tim Guise with 84lb 4oz, Time caught on chopped worm and casters in the margins. Martin Wood on peg 8 was second with 68lb 13, Martin caught on bread on the bomb which was the method he used on this lake to win himself this holiday earlier in the year. Denise Hudgell took the high number win with 39lb 10oz, Denise on peg 20 caught on the feeder with meat. Second goes to Terry King on peg 36 with 31lb 13oz.

Day Two
Day two saw A section heading off to Trelawney, being as it is only a three day festival no one can afford to have a bad day an it some cases have to make the best out of a bad draw just to hang onto some points. Darren Stayne took the low number win with 111lb 2oz caught on corn, meat & pellet shallow from peg 14, Darren also picks up 9 points for his section win. Second went to Paul Haines on peg 16 with 46lb 5oz, Paul caught on meat on the bottom.

B section had their turn on Twin Oaks it was Festival regular Harry Billing who took the low number victory on peg 4 with 91lb 8oz. Harry caught consistently on meat on the bomb at 16 meters. The festival front-runner Darren Mulheir took second with 64lb 1oz from peg 10. On the high numbers Charlie Shaw took his second 9 point win with 53lb 8oz from peg 22. Austin Williams took second with 43lb 4oz.

C section were on Nelsons & Acorn, taking the lake win on Nelsons was Ian Ford on peg 7 with 75lb 8oz, second went to peg 11 Pete Gallagher with 46lb. On Acorn Tim Guise also took his second section and lake win with 66lb 14oz caught from peg 12, taking second with 57lb 15ox was Bill Jolly on peg 16.So that’s how things look at the end of day two, there is one day of he festival left, tomorrow the lads & lass have a day off and have the choice to fish the match or not.We will be back on Thursday to see how the final days fishing effects the leader board.

Day Three
So this is the final day, how does today’s action affect the leader board? With both of them on two section wins can Charlie & Tim hold onto to their one point advantage?

A section spent the final day on Twin Oaks, In the low numbers Andy Dare made a last minute attempt at framing and wont the lake (picking up 9 points) with 82lb 2oz, Andy was on peg 6. Second on the low number was Chis Jones on peg 16 with 38lb.Martin Williams on peg 32 took the win from the high numbers, Martin demonstrated his superb waggler fishing skills and netted himself the win with a weight of 48lb 10oz. Rob Giles took second with 41lb 4oz.

B section winner on Nelson was Darren Mulheir with 63lb 15oz from peg 7; taking second was Jim Meakin with 62lb 11oz. Over on Acorn Tony Wynnick took the lake win from peg 16 with an impressive 78lb 13oz, narrowly behind him taking second was Craig Herring on peg 14 with 77lb 5oz.

C section low numbers saw the Parkdean Master Tommy Pickering take his first lake win with 84lb 14oz caught from peg 14. Colin Wood on peg 12 took second with 81lb. The high numbers win went to Mark Tullett with 66lb 4oz, Mark was on peg 23, second went to Mark Richardson next door on peg 24 with 44lb 7oz.

So that is the end of day three and the end of the festival – who is our All Gold Winner 2005?

The Winners
1st Darren Mulheir, Darren picks up £1000 and a first place trophy
2nd Charlie Shaw, Charlie picks up £600 and a second place trophy
3rd Tim Guise, Tim picks up £400 and a third place trophy.


All three of these anglers have had a great 3 days fishing and have been up at the top since day one, they have each put in strong performance and picked up section wins through out the festival, it was very tight throughout and came down to the wire on the final day.
