  Maver Festival 2006

Welcome to the second annual Maver festival here at White Acres. The festival is a sell out with 180 anglers fishing over three days on Pollawyn, Bolingey, Trelawney/Python, Porth & Gwinear. The previous week to the festival has been mild down here in Cornwall but over the last couple of days the temperature has dropped and we have had heavy rain over the weekend.

Fingers crossed the rain will not be with us all week and that it will be another great festival. Thank you once again to Maver for your generous support and good luck to all the anglers fishing, stay tuned for daily updates.

Day One
Well it is a bright start to the day, lets hope that the rain can hold off on this the first day of the festival. As with all first day draws there was a great amount of nervous and excited energy flying around (as well as the odd sore head still suffering from a night out in Newquay!!) There have been some changes to the rules this year with one of the main things being that keepnets should be thoroughly dry before going into the water, the rules and format were read out by Clint and the draw started – how was the fishing on the first day of the Maver festival and who are the early stars? Read on for the day’s action.

'A' SECTION POLLAWYN

The weather is due to change slightly for the worse over the next few days let’s hope this does not dampen either the weights or the anglers spirits.

So there is still a head to head battle between Phil & Steve Ringer at the top, can Harry, Andy, Will or even Adam catch them now.

This mornings draw was especially tense some of the top ten have drawn flyers, some drawn good section pegs and some not drawn very well at all but what ever peg that was drawn today it will make no difference to these guys as they head to the final match with determination and luckily a fairly mild day (well when I say mild there are some hideous grey clouds in the sky and it is blowing a hoolie but other than that it is still mild!!)

Who will be the 2006 Maver Champion? The results will be posted at some point on Saturday, I shall apologise in advance for not having them posted in the morning as I Shall not be in on Saturday (having a day off) so I will pop in some time and get the top twenty on to the web. Regards, Kirsty
