Welcome to the White Acres Maver Festival 2015. We had a full house this week but with 2 last minute cancellations, there are 178 anglers fishing over 5 days in 9 peg sections rotating daily on lakes Pollawyn, Twin Oaks/Trelawney, Jennys/Trewaters, Porth and Bolingey.

It’s day one of the Maver festival and the anglers were up early and eager to get to the draw to pick their peg…
Day One
Today’s lake winner on Pollawyn was Gavin Leversidge fishing the short pole with meat and pellet catching mainly Barble from peg 31. He had an overall weight of 80lb 6oz. Richard Lawson on peg 19 finished in second place weighing in at 64lb 6oz. Richard fished the feeder and waggler with pellet. Finishing third on peg 32 with a weight of 64lb 2oz was Roger Brown fishing bomb and 8mm pellet and pole with meat. Danny Bennett took fourth place on peg 25 weighing in at 63lb 9oz fishing method feeder.

Andrew Crocker took second place on peg 19 Trewaters with a weight of 88lb fishing in the margins with meat. Finishing in third place was Dave Bruton on peg 13 Jennys with 78lb 14oz. Dave fished the pellet feeder with 6mm pellet. With a weight of 69lb 4oz James Taylor finished in fourth place on peg 21 Jennys fishing the pellet feeder with pellet and dead maggot.

Fishing pellet feeder to the far bank dropping it short every now and then and with an overall weight of 147lb, Ben Hart secured himself first place on peg 16 Twin Oaks. Stewart Richards finished in second place with a weight of 120lb from peg 14 Twin Oaks fishing the pellet feeder and later swapping to the margins. In third place was Mal Proctor on peg 10 Twin Oaks with a weight of 115lb 10oz, Mal fished the feeder with meat. With a weight of 98lb 1oz was Luke Sorokin on Trelawney fishing the long pole shallow and deep from peg 23.

Wayne Sharman took first place today on Porth with a weight of 38lb 10oz fishing on open feeder with corn to take several nice Bream from peg 75. With 31lb 10oz Ian Goulding on peg 17 took second place also fishing the open end feeder and long pole to catch a mixed bag. Fishing from peg 86 Paul Holland finished in third. Paul swapped between the feeder and the long pole to catch a mixed bag. On peg 82 Luke Sears finished in fourth place with a weight of 17lb 12oz. Luke fished mainly small fish on the pole.

Harry Billing finished third on peg 11 with a weight of 111lb 8oz fishing at 5 metres with pellet. On peg 17 Steve Clark took fourth place with 104lb 14oz, Steve went between the feeder and pole with pellets.

Day Two
Danny Bennett took first place with 70lb 4oz on Jennys today catching most of his fish on the long pole down to the next platform with meat from peg 9. Gavin Leversidge on peg 45 Trewaters finished in second place weighing in at 62lb 4oz bagging himself 10 fish with method with pellet and around a further 6 fish on the long pole. Finishing third on peg 35 Trewaters with a weight of 56lb 11oz was Ben Richardson. Ben fished the long pole with pellet and in the margins with corn. Danny Tresigne took fourth place on peg 13 Jennys weighing in at 54lb 2oz fishing long pole with pellet shallow and worm down the margins.

Colin Dumphy took 1st place on Twin Oaks today with 177lb 6oz fishing on the short pole with pellets from peg 16. Gavin Bridge on peg 14 Twin Oaks finished not far behind with 145lb 12oz, Gavin fished the long pole all day with pellet. Danny Bennett finished third with 89lb from peg 18 Twin Oaks Fishing the pole at 13 metres with pellets Ryan Bennett had 74lb 14oz from peg 25 Twin Oaks.

Today’s lake winner on Porth was Ryan Bennett fishing the waggler all day to day catch mainly small fish from peg 37 and had an overall weight of 19lb. Gavin Leversidge on peg 83 finished in second place weighing 14lb 14oz. Gavin fished the long pole with worm and caster. Finishing third was Adam Palmer who swapped between the feeder and the long pole with caster and red maggot from peg 39 with a weight of 12lb 14oz. Colin Dumphy took fourth place on peg 35 with 12lb fishing the pole with caster.

A massive congratulations goes out to John Whincup for winning this year’s Maver festival, John won four out of his five sections over the week and had an overall weight of 380lb 15oz dropping 7 points and securing himself the top prize of £3000 plus tackle.
In second was Paul Holland with an overall weight of 375lb dropping 7 points and following not far behind was Simon Colclough with 368lb 10oz dropping 7 points, well done guys.
