Welcome to the White Acres Maver Festival 2015. We had a full house this week but with 2 last minute cancellations, there are 178 anglers fishing over 5 days in 9 peg sections rotating daily on lakes Pollawyn, Twin Oaks/Trelawney, Jennys/Trewaters, Porth and Bolingey.

It’s day one of the Maver festival and the anglers were up early and eager to get to the draw to pick their peg…

Day One

‘A’ section, Pollawyn

Today’s lake winner on Pollawyn was Gavin Leversidge fishing the short pole with meat and pellet catching mainly Barble from peg 31. He had an overall weight of 80lb 6oz. Richard Lawson on peg 19 finished in second place weighing in at 64lb 6oz. Richard fished the feeder and waggler with pellet. Finishing third on peg 32 with a weight of 64lb 2oz was Roger Brown fishing bomb and 8mm pellet and pole with meat. Danny Bennett took fourth place on peg 25 weighing in at 63lb 9oz fishing method feeder.

‘B’ Section, Jennys and Trewaters

In first place on peg 17 Jennys was Leon Hardwick with a weight of 94lb 12oz, Leon fished the method feeder to the island then swapped to shallow pole. Andrew Crocker took second place on peg 19 Trewaters with a weight of 88lb fishing in the margins with meat. Finishing in third place was Dave Bruton on peg 13 Jennys with 78lb 14oz. Dave fished the pellet feeder with 6mm pellet. With a weight of 69lb 4oz James Taylor finished in fourth place on peg 21 Jennys fishing the pellet feeder with pellet and dead maggot.

‘C’ Section, Trelawnay and Twin Oaks

Fishing pellet feeder to the far bank dropping it short every now and then and with an overall weight of 147lb, Ben Hart secured himself first place on peg 16 Twin Oaks. Stewart Richards finished in second place with a weight of 120lb from peg 14 Twin Oaks fishing the pellet feeder and later swapping to the margins. In third place was Mal Proctor on peg 10 Twin Oaks with a weight of 115lb 10oz, Mal fished the feeder with meat. With a weight of 98lb 1oz was Luke Sorokin on Trelawney fishing the long pole shallow and deep from peg 23.

‘D’ Section, Porth

Wayne Sharman took first place today on Porth with a weight of 38lb 10oz fishing on open feeder with corn to take several nice Bream from peg 75. With 31lb 10oz Ian Goulding on peg 17 took second place also fishing the open end feeder and long pole to catch a mixed bag. Fishing from peg 86 Paul Holland finished in third. Paul swapped between the feeder and the long pole to catch a mixed bag. On peg 82 Luke Sears finished in fourth place with a weight of 17lb 12oz. Luke fished mainly small fish on the pole.

With a weight of 146lb 6oz Simon Colclough finished first on Bolingey today on peg 27. Simon caught all his from 5 metres and the margins with pellet and meat. In second place Chris Kitchin weighed in at 136lb 2oz on peg 32, he fished long pole and 5 metres with pellet. Harry Billing finished third on peg 11 with a weight of 111lb 8oz fishing at 5 metres with pellet. On peg 17 Steve Clark took fourth place with 104lb 14oz, Steve went between the feeder and pole with pellets.

Day Two

‘A’ Section, Jennys and Trewaters

Danny Bennett took first place with 70lb 4oz on Jennys today catching most of his fish on the long pole down to the next platform with meat from peg 9. Gavin Leversidge on peg 45 Trewaters finished in second place weighing in at 62lb 4oz bagging himself 10 fish with method with pellet and around a further 6 fish on the long pole. Finishing third on peg 35 Trewaters with a weight of 56lb 11oz was Ben Richardson. Ben fished the long pole with pellet and in the margins with corn. Danny Tresigne took fourth place on peg 13 Jennys weighing in at 54lb 2oz fishing long pole with pellet shallow and worm down the margins.

With a weight of 163lb 7oz Steve Conway secured himself first place on Twin Oaks today fishing the long pole with 6mm pellet shallow from peg 16. Adam Southgate finished in second place with a weight of 98lb on peg 12 Twin Oaks fishing shallow with pellet. In third place was Alan West on peg 27 Twin Oaks with a weight of 91lb 8oz, Alan caught with the pellet feeder with meat on the hook. With a weight of 86lb 8oz was Kevin Baxter on Twin Oaks fishing method feeder for Carp from peg 18.

In first place on Porth today peg 36 was Mal Proctor with a weight of 21lb 9oz, Mal caught all his fish on the feeder swapping from maggot and worm. John Whincup took second place on peg 81 with a weight of 17lb 6oz. John Whincup fished the short pole with maggot. Finishing in third place was Mick Wells on peg 24 with 15lb 7oz fishing the feeder with worm and white band-ums. With a weight of 14lb 13oz Ian Chestney finished in fourth place fishing feeder for 2 Bream and the short pole for 6lb of bits from peg 17.

Andy Power took first place today on Bolingey with a weight of 142lb 10oz fishing between the long pole and pellet in the margins from peg 47. With 121lb 11oz Gary Thomas on peg 45 took second place fishing all day with meat at 5 metres. Catching most of his fish down the margins with pellet from peg 8 Geoff Vallance finished in third. On peg 6 Lee Edwards finished in fourth place with a weight of 113lb 10oz. lee fished pellets in the margins.

With a weight of 75lb 12oz Harry Bignell finished first on Pollawyn today on peg 18. Harry swapped from the long to the short pole fishing meat. In second place Bradley Gibbons weighed in at 57lb 6oz on peg 16 catching all his fish on meat shallow. Patrick Pritchard finished third on peg 28 with a weight of 54lb 12oz fishing bomb and pellet. On peg 17 Scott Russell took fourth place with 53lb 14oz fishing shallow at 14 metres.

‘A’ Section, Twin Oaks and Trelawney

Colin Dumphy took 1st place on Twin Oaks today with 177lb 6oz fishing on the short pole with pellets from peg 16. Gavin Bridge on peg 14 Twin Oaks finished not far behind with 145lb 12oz, Gavin fished the long pole all day with pellet. Danny Bennett finished third with 89lb from peg 18 Twin Oaks Fishing the pole at 13 metres with pellets Ryan Bennett had 74lb 14oz from peg 25 Twin Oaks.

‘B’ Section, Porth

Matt Grant won Porth today with 37lb 7oz fishing feeder and corn from peg 17. Fishing feeder with worm and maggot from peg 40 was Steve Ringer bagging 24lb 8oz. Alan Scotthorne had 22lb 10oz fishing feeder and pole from peg 34. Tommy Pickering fished tip and waggler from peg 89 and had a weight of 21lb 10oz.

‘C’ Section, Bolingey

With 119lb 8oz John Whincup fished pellet feeder in the margins from peg 11 on Bolingey. Tom Edwards had 114lb 2oz on peg 23. Fishing long pole from peg 19 Rob Austin had 111lb 8oz. Also fishing the long pole and with pellet was Luke Sorokin who had 108lb from peg 47.

‘D’ Section, Pollawyn

Luke Sears had 75lb 4oz from peg 25 on Pollawyn fishing short with meat. Also fishing meat shallow was Andy Power who had 72lb 4oz from peg 24. Paul Holland had 70lb from peg 34 fishing bomb and pellet and meat short. With 64lb 12oz Keith Adams fished from peg 27.

‘E’ Section, Jenny’s and Trewaters

Fishing meat at 5 metres and then down the edge in the last 30 minutes, Chris Kitchin won Trewaters today with 81lb 8oz from peg 27. Bradley Gibbons had 71lb 6oz fishing 16 metres to the island and shallow with pellet from peg 53. Simon Colclough had 69lb 14oz fishing feeder to the island from peg 6. Fishing short at 5 metres on meat and down the edge was Steve Cook who had 66lb 9oz from peg 45.

Day Four

‘A’ Section, Porth

Today’s lake winner on Porth was Ryan Bennett fishing the waggler all day to day catch mainly small fish from peg 37 and had an overall weight of 19lb. Gavin Leversidge on peg 83 finished in second place weighing 14lb 14oz. Gavin fished the long pole with worm and caster. Finishing third was Adam Palmer who swapped between the feeder and the long pole with caster and red maggot from peg 39 with a weight of 12lb 14oz. Colin Dumphy took fourth place on peg 35 with 12lb fishing the pole with caster.

Weighing 141lb 12oz was Alan Scotthorne fishing between long pole and 5 metres with pellets and meat from peg 6. Lee Farmer took second place on peg 28 with a weight of 141lb 10oz. Lee spent most of his day on the long pole with 6mm pellets. Finishing in third place was Kevin Baxter on peg 17 with 122lb 4oz fishing method feeder to the island and catching later on with worm down the margins. With a weight of 115lb 2oz Tommy Pickering finished in fourth place on peg 13 catching 18 Carp on pellet at 13 metres.

With a weight of 74lb 8oz Ian Chestney secured himself first place on Pollawyn today fishing from the long pole shallow with meat and 5 metres on the deck with meat from peg 13. Mal Proctor finished in second place with a weight of 70lb 6oz on peg 19 fishing pole and meat and feeder to the island. In third place was Tom Edwards on peg 55 with 66lb 13oz, Tom caught on worm and caster at 5 metres. With a weight of 65lb 12oz was Dan White fishing the waggler with pellet and meat from peg 30.

Setting a new lake record on Trewaters today was Andy Power with a massive weight of 202lb 12oz from peg 53. Andy caught a great weight of mainly F1’s and Carp at 5 metres with Caster shallow. With 130lb on peg 37 Trewaters Lee Edwards took second place fishing 16 metres to the island with meat. Catching all his fish at 13 metres shallow from peg 15 Jennys Mitch Rawlinson finished in third. On peg 9 Jennys Paul Holland finished in fourth place with 73lb. Paul fished the pellet feeder with 6mm pellet.

With a weight of 126lb 14oz Ian Chadwick finished first on Twin Oaks today spending most of his day on the long pole with 6mm pellets from peg 16. In second place Ricky Dennis had 120lb 10oz from peg 18 Twin Oaks. Ricky caught all of his fish on the short pole with pellets. Tom Scholey finished third on peg 16 Trelawney with a weight of 94lb 13oz fishing short with pellet. On peg 31 Twin Oaks Simon Colclough took fourth place with 93lb 6oz fishing the short pole with worm.

Today’s lake winner on Bolingey today was Richard Lawson fishing the pole at 5 metres with meat from peg 27, he had an overall weight of 195lb. Jamie Minter on peg 40 finished in second place with 128lb 3oz. Jamie fished meat and corn at 7 metres. Finishing third on peg 7 with a weight of 102lb, Nigel Bond fished between the long pole and 5 metres with 6mm pellet. Paul Barnard took fourth place on peg 1 with 99lb 14oz fishing long pole down the margins with meat and pellet.

Steve Ringer took second with 105lb 13oz catching all his fish on the long pole with meat shallow from peg 13. Finishing in third place was Dave Bruton on peg 32 with 85lb 2oz. Dave fished the pellet feeder with 6mm pellet. With a weight of 71lb 1oz Matthew Dewsnap finished in fourth place fishing between pellet feeder and waggler with pellets.

With a weight of 91lb John Whincup secured himself first place on Trewaters fishing 16 metres and long lined to the island with 6mm pellets from peg 43. Paul Carnwell finished in second place with a weight of 77lb 2oz on peg 9 Jennys, Paul fished chopped worm down the margins. In third place was David Bradshaw on peg 37 Trewaters with a weight of 66lb 4oz, David caught at 16 metres with meat to the island. With a weight of 62lb 10oz was Tom Edwards on Jennys fishing the long pole with pellet shallow to catch mainly F1’s from peg 4.

Luke Sears took first place today on Twin Oaks with 137lb 12oz fishing tight in the margins with caster from peg 23. With 132lb 15oz Mitch Rawlinson on peg 16 Trelawney took second place fishing pellet feeder and waggler. Fishing the margins with caster and pellet feeder from peg 27 on Twin Oaks was Grant Albutt. On peg 16 Twin Oaks Gary Rowlands finished in fourth place with 114lb 14oz catching all his fish on the bomb and pellet including the biggest fish of the week at 21lb 12oz.

With a weight of 22lb 5oz Iain Chadwick finished first on Porth today on peg 37. Ian spent all day on the waggler to catch mainly small Roach and Perch. In second place Phil Canning had 21lb 13oz on peg 87, he fished the method feeder at 60 metres. Simon Colclough finished third on peg 34 with a weight of 19lb 14oz fishing between long and short pole to catch mainly small Roach. On peg 39 Harry Billing took fourth place with 16lb 7oz fishing the long pole with maggot and caster.

Maver Festival 2015 winners!

A massive congratulations goes out to John Whincup for winning this year’s Maver festival, John won four out of his five sections over the week and had an overall weight of 380lb 15oz dropping 7 points and securing himself the top prize of £3000 plus tackle.

In second was Paul Holland with an overall weight of 375lb dropping 7 points and following not far behind was Simon Colclough with 368lb 10oz dropping 7 points, well done guys.
